How to Forward Calls from Spectrum Business to Ringing.io
Spectrum Business Voice supports both star codes (*72 / *73 / *90 / *92) and the online Voice Manager portal. For reliability and visibility, set forwarding in the portal — then use the star codes for quick on/off toggling.
Spectrum Business Voice is line-based: forwarding rules attach to a specific phone number, not a user. Most accounts ship with the call-forwarding feature enabled by default, but some legacy accounts need it enabled in the Voice Manager portal before star codes will work. Spectrum only allows forwarding to domestic US 10-digit numbers (toll-free is fine; Ringing.io numbers are US, so this is not an issue).
Forward every call to Ringing.io (Call Forwarding Always)
Use the *72 star code or the Voice Manager portal to redirect all inbound calls on this Spectrum line to your Ringing.io number.
- 1
Option A — from the phone, dial *72
Pick up the handset on the Spectrum Business line, wait for dial tone, and dial *72 followed by your 10-digit Ringing.io number. Listen for the confirmation tone, then hang up.
*72 + 10-digit Ringing.io number - 2
Option B — Voice Manager portal (recommended for visibility)
Sign in to your Spectrum Business account at spectrumbusiness.net, open the Voice & Services tab, then under Voice Access select Manage Forwarding. Pick the line you want to forward.
- 3
Enable Call Forwarding Always and enter your Ringing.io number
Expand Call Forwarding Always (or "Forward all calls"), toggle it ON, enter your 10-digit Ringing.io number, and confirm "Prior to Ring" is selected so the call is forwarded immediately. Click Save.
- 4
Test
Call your Spectrum Business number from another phone. It should ring through to Ringing.io without ringing your physical phone.
How to undo: Dial *73 from the Spectrum line to deactivate Call Forwarding Always. Or in the Voice Manager portal, expand Call Forwarding Always and toggle it OFF. Save.
Note: If *72 produces no confirmation tone, your account may need the feature enabled in the portal first. Sign in to Voice Manager, open Manage Forwarding, and turn the feature on for that line — then star codes will work.
After-hours only — manually schedule with the portal
Spectrum Business Voice does not expose a built-in time-of-day scheduler on most plans. Recommended fix: publish your Ringing.io number and let Ringing.io handle the schedule.
- 1
Recommended — publish your Ringing.io number as your main number
List your Ringing.io number on your website, Google Business Profile, and signage. Configure your business hours inside Ringing.io. The AI handles after-hours calls itself and transfers to your Spectrum line during business hours. Zero Spectrum configuration is needed.
- 2
Alternative — toggle *72 / *73 manually each day
At end of business day dial *72 + your Ringing.io number to turn forwarding on. The next morning dial *73 to turn it off. Reliable but manual.
- 3
Alternative — use Selective Call Forwarding if available on your plan
Some Spectrum Business Voice plans expose Selective Call Forwarding in the Voice Manager (forward calls from specific numbers, or in specific time windows). If your account shows that option under Manage Forwarding, build a rule for your after-hours window and point it at your Ringing.io number. Save.
How to undo: For *72 toggling, dial *73 at any time to disable forwarding. For Selective Call Forwarding rules, open Manage Forwarding in Voice Manager and toggle the rule off.
Note: Spectrum Business Voice plans vary by market and legacy footprint. Time-of-day scheduling is not guaranteed in the portal — check Manage Forwarding for "Selective Call Forwarding" or "Scheduled Forwarding". If neither is present, the Ringing.io-as-main-number approach is the reliable path.
Forward only when busy or no answer
Use *90 / *92 (or the corresponding portal options) so your Spectrum phone rings first, and only busy / unanswered calls reach Ringing.io.
- 1
Enable Call Forwarding Busy
Pick up the Spectrum line and dial *90 followed by your Ringing.io number. Wait for the confirmation tone. (To disable later, dial *91.)
*90 + 10-digit Ringing.io number - 2
Enable Call Forwarding No Answer
On the same line, dial *92 followed by your Ringing.io number. Wait for the confirmation tone. (To disable later, dial *93.)
*92 + 10-digit Ringing.io number - 3
Adjust your voicemail timeout (important)
Spectrum voicemail will intercept calls before *92 forwarding fires if the voicemail timeout is shorter. In Voice Manager, raise your no-answer ring count (or shorten the forward-no-answer ring count) so the Ringing.io forward triggers first.
- 4
Test
Call your Spectrum number and let it ring without answering — after the timeout it should reach Ringing.io. Then call again while you are on another call to verify the busy forward.
How to undo: Dial *91 to disable Call Forwarding Busy. Dial *93 to disable Call Forwarding No Answer. Both can also be toggled in the Voice Manager portal under Manage Forwarding.
Note: *90 / *92 are standard on Spectrum Business Voice but not on Spectrum residential lines. If the codes do not work and you confirmed you are on a Business Voice plan, enable them in the Voice Manager portal first.

Frequently asked questions
What are the Spectrum Business Voice star codes for call forwarding?
*72 enables Call Forwarding Always; *73 disables it. *90 enables Call Forwarding Busy; *91 disables it. *92 enables Call Forwarding No Answer; *93 disables it. Each "enable" code is followed by the 10-digit destination number.
Why does *72 do nothing on my line?
Most Spectrum Business Voice accounts have call forwarding enabled by default, but some legacy accounts ship with it disabled. Sign in to your Voice Manager portal at spectrumbusiness.net > Voice & Services > Manage Forwarding and enable the feature for that line — then the star codes will respond.
Where is the Spectrum Business Voice Manager?
Sign in at spectrumbusiness.net, click Voice & Services in the top nav, and look for Voice Access > Manage Forwarding (or Manage Voice). The exact label varies slightly by market.
Can I forward Spectrum Business calls to an international number?
No. Spectrum Business Voice only forwards to domestic US 10-digit numbers (including toll-free). Ringing.io numbers are US numbers, so forwarding to your AI receptionist works without issue.
Is there a time-of-day / business-hours scheduler?
Not on most Spectrum Business Voice plans. Some accounts expose Selective Call Forwarding with time criteria in the Voice Manager — check Manage Forwarding for the option. If it is not there, the simplest fix is to publish your Ringing.io number as your business line and let Ringing.io handle scheduling.
Will I be charged for forwarded calls?
Spectrum Business Voice typically includes unlimited local and long-distance calling within the US, so forwarded calls to a domestic Ringing.io number are included. International forwarding is not supported, so there is no risk of accidental international charges.
Will my Spectrum number still receive SMS while forwarded?
Most Spectrum Business Voice lines are traditional landline-style numbers and do not natively support SMS. If you have SMS through a third-party add-on, call forwarding does not affect it — only voice calls are redirected.
Don't have a Ringing.io number yet?
