How to Forward Calls from T-Mobile to Ringing.io

Use T-Mobile GSM star codes to forward calls to your Ringing.io number — all of them, only the ones you miss, or both.

USUS MobileWirelessGSM

T-Mobile is a GSM carrier, so it uses the **21* / **61* / **67* family of dial codes (the same set as AT&T) rather than the *72 codes used by Verizon and traditional landlines. T-Mobile does not natively support time-of-day or after-hours scheduling — for business hours behaviour the recommended approach is to publish your Ringing.io number and let Ringing.io handle the schedule.

1

Forward every call to Ringing.io

Send 100% of incoming T-Mobile calls to your Ringing.io number — your phone never rings.

When to use this: You want the AI receptionist to answer everything. You will still see the call in your Ringing.io dashboard with the full transcript.
  1. 1

    Open the phone dialer

Open the standard phone / dialer app on your T-Mobile device.

  2. 2

Dial the GSM activation code with your Ringing.io number

Dial **21* followed immediately by your full 10-digit Ringing.io number, then press #. T-Mobile documents this as the immediate-forwarding code on its calling-services support page. The area code is required.

    **21*[10-digit Ringing.io number]#
  3. 3

Press call and wait for confirmation

Press the call button. T-Mobile returns a short confirmation message on screen ("Service was enabled" or similar) within a few seconds. Wait for the confirmation before ending the call.

  4. 4

    Test it

Call your T-Mobile number from another phone. It should ring through to Ringing.io and your AI receptionist should pick up. Forwarding bypasses your T-Mobile visual voicemail.

How to undo: From your T-Mobile device, dial ##21# and press call. Forwarding stops immediately and your phone rings normally again.

2

Forward only when you miss the call (no-answer)

Your phone rings first. If you do not pick up, the call is forwarded to Ringing.io instead of going to T-Mobile visual voicemail.

When to use this: You want to take calls when you can, but never let one drop to voicemail. The AI catches everything you miss.
  1. 1

    Open the phone dialer

Open the standard phone / dialer app on your T-Mobile device.

  2. 2

Dial the no-answer forward code with your Ringing.io number

Dial **61* followed by your full 10-digit Ringing.io number, then press #. This is the GSM "Call Forwarding on No Reply" code.

    **61*[10-digit Ringing.io number]#
  3. 3

Optional — also forward when busy or unreachable

For busy forwarding, dial **67* + your Ringing.io number + #. For "unreachable" (phone off, airplane mode, no signal) forwarding, dial **62* + your Ringing.io number + #. All three conditional rules can be active simultaneously.

    **67* / **62*
  4. 4

Press call and wait for confirmation

After each code, press call and wait for the on-screen confirmation.

How to undo: Dial ##61# to clear no-answer, ##67# for busy, and ##62# for unreachable. Dial ##002# to clear all conditional forwarding rules at once.

Note: Some T-Mobile users report that conditional forwarding (**61*) intermittently fails to set on certain plans / devices — particularly on prepaid and some BYOD setups. If you see no confirmation message after dialling, try the unconditional **21* code instead. T-Mobile also blocks forwarding to international numbers.

3

After-hours only (manual schedule)

T-Mobile does not have a native time-of-day schedule, so you have two options.

When to use this: You want to answer your own phone during business hours and have Ringing.io cover nights and weekends.
  1. 1

Recommended — publish your Ringing.io number

Put your Ringing.io number on your website, Google Business Profile, and signage. Configure your business hours inside Ringing.io. The AI will route in-hours calls to you (transfer to your T-Mobile line) and handle after-hours calls itself. Zero T-Mobile configuration required.

  2. 2

Manual alternative — toggle **21* at end of day

If you must keep your T-Mobile number published, manually dial **21* + your Ringing.io number + # when you close, and ##21# when you reopen. Some users automate this with a Shortcuts (iOS) or Tasker (Android) routine that dials the code on a schedule.

How to undo: For the manual approach, ##21# turns forwarding off at any time. For the Ringing.io-as-published-number approach, change your business hours in the Ringing.io dashboard.

Frequently asked questions

Does T-Mobile charge for call forwarding?

T-Mobile does not charge a monthly fee for call forwarding on standard postpaid plans. Forwarded calls use minutes from your plan, which is a non-issue on unlimited plans (the vast majority).

Does T-Mobile call forwarding work on prepaid and Metro by T-Mobile?

Yes on most prepaid plans, though the experience can be less reliable than postpaid. Metro by T-Mobile (formerly MetroPCS) uses the same GSM codes since it runs on T-Mobile's network. If a code does not stick on prepaid, contact T-Mobile customer service to enable conditional forwarding on your line.

Will I still get text messages while forwarding is on?

Yes. T-Mobile call forwarding only redirects voice calls. SMS, MMS, and iMessage continue to arrive on your T-Mobile device as normal.

How do I tell if call forwarding is currently active?

Dial *#21# from your T-Mobile device for immediate-forwarding status, *#61# for no-answer, and *#67# for busy. T-Mobile returns the currently configured forward number on screen if one is set.

Can I forward my T-Mobile number to a non-US number?

No. T-Mobile only allows forwarding to 10- or 11-digit North American numbers. Your Ringing.io number is a US number so this is not an issue.

Does forwarding work while I am roaming internationally?

It depends on the host carrier in the country you are in. T-Mobile states that forwarding while roaming is subject to the foreign network supporting it — many do, but some prepaid networks block it. Set up forwarding before you travel for the most reliable experience.

Can I set business-hours vs after-hours forwarding rules on T-Mobile?

T-Mobile does not natively support time-of-day forwarding. The practical solution is to publish your Ringing.io number as your business line and configure business hours inside Ringing.io — Ringing.io routes in-hours calls to you and handles after-hours itself.

Don't have a Ringing.io number yet?

Get one in five minutes, set up your AI receptionist, then come back to this page to forward T-Mobile.
