How to Forward Calls from Freedom Mobile to Ringing.io
Use Freedom Mobile GSM codes to forward calls to your Ringing.io number — Freedom documents the exact code list directly.
Canadian wireless carriers use the GSM MMI code format (*21*number#), not the North American star codes (*72) that US carriers use. Freedom Mobile publishes the codes on its official Manage Call Forwarding Service page and also exposes them in the phone Settings on iOS and Android.
Forward every call to Ringing.io
Send 100% of incoming Freedom calls to your Ringing.io number — your handset never rings.
- 1
Open the phone dialer
Open the standard phone / dialer app on your Freedom Mobile device.
- 2
Dial the GSM Unconditional forwarding code
Dial *21* immediately followed by your full 10-digit Ringing.io number and the # symbol. Include the area code even for local numbers. Do not include the country code 1.
*21*<10-digit Ringing.io number># - 3
Press call and wait for confirmation
Press the call/send button. The Freedom network will reply with an on-screen confirmation that Call Forwarding is active.
- 4
Test it
Call your Freedom number from another phone. It should ring through to Ringing.io and your AI receptionist should pick up.
How to undo: Dial #21# and press call. Freedom confirms unconditional forwarding is removed and your handset will ring normally again.
Forward only when you miss the call (no-answer / busy / unreachable)
Your phone rings first. If you do not answer, or the line is busy, or your phone is off, the call is forwarded to Ringing.io.
- 1
Forward on no reply
Dial *61* followed by your Ringing.io number and # to forward unanswered calls. Press call.
*61*<10-digit Ringing.io number># - 2
Forward when busy
Dial *67* followed by your Ringing.io number and # to forward calls when your line is busy.
*67*<10-digit Ringing.io number># - 3
Forward when not reachable
Dial *62* followed by your Ringing.io number and # to forward calls when your phone is off or out of coverage.
*62*<10-digit Ringing.io number>#
How to undo: Use #61#, #67#, #62# to disable each rule. Or ##002# to clear every forwarding rule at once.
Note: On iPhone, the Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding toggle only handles unconditional forwarding. For conditional rules on iPhone, you must dial the *61*, *67*, *62* codes from the dialer. Android Phone app > Settings > Calling Accounts > Freedom > Call Forwarding exposes all four scenarios in a menu.
After-hours only (no native schedule on Freedom Mobile)
Freedom Mobile does not have a native time-of-day forwarding schedule, so you have two options.
- 1
Recommended — publish your Ringing.io number
Put your Ringing.io number on your website, Google Business Profile, and signage. Configure business hours inside Ringing.io. In-hours calls transfer to your Freedom line; after-hours calls are handled by the AI. Zero Freedom configuration required.
- 2
Manual alternative — toggle *21* at end of day
If you must keep your Freedom number published, manually dial *21*<Ringing.io number># when you close, and #21# when you reopen. Some users automate this via a Shortcuts (iOS) or Tasker (Android) routine.
How to undo: For the manual approach, #21# turns forwarding off any time. For the Ringing.io-as-published-number approach, change business hours in the Ringing.io dashboard.

Frequently asked questions
Does Freedom Mobile charge for call forwarding?
Freedom Mobile call forwarding is free when used within the Freedom and Nationwide networks. Forwarding to numbers outside that footprint may consume long-distance minutes from your plan. Check your specific plan in the Freedom My Account app for the latest pricing.
Can I forward my Freedom number to a US Ringing.io number?
Freedom Mobile documents call forwarding as redirecting to "another Canadian phone number." If your Ringing.io number is Canadian, you are fully covered. If you have a US Ringing.io number, the safest path is to provision a Canadian Ringing.io number for this forward — contact Ringing.io support and we can issue one.
Will SMS and data still work while forwarding is on?
Yes. Freedom call forwarding only redirects voice calls. SMS, MMS, and mobile data continue to arrive on your Freedom device normally.
How do I check whether forwarding is currently active?
Dial *#21# and press call to see the status of unconditional forwarding. *#61#, *#67#, *#62# check the conditional rules. The iOS Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding screen also shows the current unconditional state.
I am roaming internationally — does forwarding still work?
Freedom notes that unconditional forwarding works while roaming with no extra charges. Conditional forwarding while roaming may incur additional charges for the call leg back to Canada from the roaming destination. If you are travelling, unconditional *21*<Ringing.io># is the safer choice.
Can Freedom forward calls only during business hours?
Freedom Mobile does not natively support time-of-day forwarding schedules. The recommended approach is to publish your Ringing.io number as your business line and configure business hours in the Ringing.io dashboard — Ringing.io routes in-hours calls to you and handles after-hours itself.
Why does the iPhone Call Forwarding toggle only show unconditional?
iOS only exposes unconditional forwarding in the Settings UI. For no-answer, busy, and unreachable rules you have to dial the GSM codes directly (*61*, *67*, *62*). On Android, the Phone app > Settings > Calling Accounts > Freedom > Call Forwarding menu exposes all four scenarios.
Don't have a Ringing.io number yet?
