How to Forward Calls from TELUS Mobility to Ringing.io

Use TELUS Mobility GSM codes to forward calls to your Ringing.io number — all of them, the ones you miss, or only when your line is busy.

CACanadian MobileWireless

Canadian wireless carriers use the GSM MMI code format (*21*number#), not the North American star codes (*72) that US carriers use. The codes below work directly from any TELUS handset dialer. TELUS also exposes call forwarding inside the device Call Settings menu and the MyTELUS app, but the dialer code is the fastest path.

1

Forward every call to Ringing.io

Send 100% of incoming TELUS calls to your Ringing.io number — your handset never rings.

When to use this: You want the AI receptionist to answer everything. You will still see the call in your Ringing.io dashboard with the full transcript.
  1. 1

    Open the phone dialer

Open the standard phone / dialer app on your TELUS Mobility device.

  2. 2

Dial the GSM Unconditional forwarding code

Dial *21* immediately followed by your full 10-digit Ringing.io number and the # symbol. Include the area code even for local numbers. Do not include the country code 1.

    *21*<10-digit Ringing.io number>#
  3. 3

Press call and wait for confirmation

Press the call/send button. TELUS will reply with an on-screen message confirming that Call Forward Unconditional is activated.

  4. 4

    Test it

Call your TELUS number from another phone. It should ring through to Ringing.io and your AI receptionist should pick up.

How to undo: Dial #21# and press call. TELUS confirms Call Forward Unconditional is cancelled and your handset will ring normally again.

2

Forward only when you miss the call (no-answer / busy / unreachable)

Your phone rings first. If you do not answer, or the line is busy, or your phone is off, the call is forwarded to Ringing.io.

When to use this: You want to take calls yourself when possible, but never let one drop to voicemail. The AI catches everything you miss.
  1. 1

    Forward on no-answer

Dial *61* followed by your Ringing.io number and # to forward unanswered calls. Press call.

    *61*<10-digit Ringing.io number>#
  2. 2

    Forward when busy

Dial *67* followed by your Ringing.io number and # to forward calls when you are on another call.

    *67*<10-digit Ringing.io number>#
  3. 3

    Forward when unreachable

Dial *62* followed by your Ringing.io number and # to forward calls when your phone is off, in airplane mode, or out of coverage.

    *62*<10-digit Ringing.io number>#

How to undo: Use #61#, #67#, #62# to deactivate each rule individually. Or dial ##002# to clear every forwarding rule at once.

Note: Some TELUS customers have reported the conditional codes (*61*, *67*, *62*) being intercepted by TELUS voicemail. If conditional forwarding does not work, dial 611 from your TELUS device or use MyTELUS to ask support to disable TELUS voicemail on your line — then conditional forwarding will take effect.

3

After-hours only (no native schedule on TELUS Mobility)

TELUS Mobility does not have a native time-of-day forwarding schedule, so you have two options.

When to use this: You want to answer your own phone during business hours and have Ringing.io cover nights and weekends.
  1. 1

Recommended — publish your Ringing.io number

Put your Ringing.io number on your website, Google Business Profile, and signage. Configure business hours inside Ringing.io. In-hours calls transfer to your TELUS line; after-hours calls are handled by the AI. Zero TELUS configuration required.

  2. 2

Manual alternative — toggle *21* at end of day

If you must keep your TELUS number published, manually dial *21*<Ringing.io number># when you close, and #21# when you reopen. Some users automate this via a Shortcuts (iOS) or Tasker (Android) routine.

How to undo: For the manual approach, #21# turns forwarding off any time. For the Ringing.io-as-published-number approach, change business hours in the Ringing.io dashboard.

Frequently asked questions

Does TELUS charge for call forwarding?

TELUS offers Call Forwarding North America with 3,000 minutes per month included. Additional minutes are billed at 75¢ per minute. Plans with unlimited Canada-wide or Canada-US minutes generally do not incur additional charges for North American forwarding. TELUS Prepaid does not support call forwarding.

Will SMS and data still work on my TELUS line while forwarding is on?

Yes. TELUS call forwarding only redirects voice calls. SMS, MMS, and mobile data continue to arrive on your TELUS device normally.

How do I check whether forwarding is currently active on TELUS?

Dial *#21# and press call to see the status of unconditional forwarding. TELUS will reply with the destination number, or say the service is not active. *#61#, *#67#, *#62# check the conditional rules.

Can I forward my TELUS number to a US Ringing.io number?

Yes. TELUS Call Forwarding North America allows forwarding to any 10-digit Canadian or US number. Most current TELUS Canada-US plans cover this; check your plan in MyTELUS.

Why is my call going to TELUS voicemail instead of Ringing.io?

Most commonly, you used a conditional code (*61*, *67*, *62*) but TELUS voicemail picks up before forwarding kicks in. Two fixes: (1) switch to unconditional forwarding *21*<number># which bypasses voicemail entirely, or (2) call 611 from your TELUS device and ask to disable TELUS voicemail on your line.

Can TELUS forward calls only during business hours?

TELUS Mobility does not natively support time-of-day forwarding schedules. The recommended approach is to publish your Ringing.io number as your business line and configure business hours inside the Ringing.io dashboard — Ringing.io then routes in-hours calls to your TELUS line and handles after-hours itself.

Does conditional forwarding work on every TELUS handset?

TELUS notes that unconditional forwarding works on any device, but conditional forwarding (no-answer, busy, unreachable) is device-dependent — not every handset configuration is compatible. If *61* or *67* are not accepted by your phone, fall back to unconditional *21*, or set up forwarding through your phone's Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding menu.

Don't have a Ringing.io number yet?
